Patricia Andrews, B.A., M. Ed., President, Board of Directors
Patti joined Oolagen’s board in 2004, having been a member of their Corporate Fundraising Committee from 1997-2000.  A retired elementary school Principal with the Toronto District School Board, Patti has a B.A. in Humanities from York University and a Master of Education (Adult Education) from O.I.S.E.  During her teaching career, Patti’s focus was on Special Education and violence prevention/anti-bullying programming. She has taught a variety of parent education programs from pre-natal education to parenting teenagers. A founding member of the Family and Child Committee, East York Development Council, in 1997 she developed Parent to Parent, a community group of parents as peer helpers. Patti and her husband have 3 adult children.

Heather DeGraaf, Vice-President, Board of Directors, B.A., B.Ed., M.Ed.
Heather joined the board in 2000 and currently serves as the Vice-President of the board.  A retired Principal from the Toronto District School Board, she is past Principal of Marc Garneau Collegiate and Leaside High School.  In these posts, Heather was responsible for ensuring an effective partnership between Oolagen, the students, staff and community of both of these schools. Heather also served as the Central Principal Coordinator for TDSB’s United Way drive. Heather received her B.A. from Queen’s University, her B.Ed. from the University of Toronto and her M.Ed. from OISE.

Tim Stoate, B.A., M.B.A., Treasurer, Board of Directors
Tim joined the board in 2000 and currently serves as Treasurer of the Board.  Tim earned his Honours B.A. from U of T’s Trinity College and his M.B.A. in 1988 from York University.  Formerly in the banking industry, Tim moved into corporate finance where he held senior positions with Sentient Inc., LaserNetworks and Cameron Roberts Capital Corporation. He is presently Associate Director, Mandate Related Finance for the Toronto Atmospheric Fund and Board member and Treasurer of GreenSaver a not for profit focused on improving home energy efficiency.

Nana Barnor, M.D.
Nana joined Oolagen as a board member in 2005. She runs both a private and consulting pediatrics practice and is skilled in developmental pediatrics. She is a senior active staff member at Humber Regional Hospital, has courtesy privileges at Women’s College Hospital and teaches undergraduate medical students at U of T.  She was born in Accra, Ghana and schooled in Ghana through her high school years.  She then earned both her B.Sc. and M.D. at U of T, is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians Canada, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She did her residential specialty pediatrics training at Sick Kids Hospital.  She is a former board member of Havergal College, served as Board Chair 2000-2006 for the African Partnership Against AIDS and is an active volunteer in the Ghanian community.

Anu Bhalla, B.A.
Anu joined Oolagen’s board in 2008. Anu is a Market Research Consultant specializing in sponsorship, brand reputation, financial services and client relationships.  In the past, she has held senior posts with Angus Reid Strategies, Jigsaw Planning and Advanis. She earned her B.A. from the University of Western Ontario and attended Ridley College. Anu’s volunteer work has included the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD), the Canadian Foundation for Aids Research (CANFAR), e.p.i.c. School Board of Directors, and ABC Literacy Foundation Sponsorship and Marketing Committee.

Deborah Osler Bianco, B.A., R.T.
Debbie joined Oolagen’s board in 2004 and, as well, she serves as a board member of the Canadian Chapter of the Weizmann Institute of Science.  Debbie earned an R.T. in X-ray technology from Mount Carmel Clinic in Winnipeg, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Toronto.  Debbie is the President of Debbie Bianco Designs, a company that represents Canadian artists.  She is also the President and Secretary-Treasurer of Albermarle Properties Ltd. and L.H. Kalesky Realty Corp. Ltd. Debbie brings a lot of commitment to her volunteer work and has been a long-term advocate and supporter of children’s mental health issues.

Suzen Fromstein, APR
Suzen joined the board in 1997 after working closely with Oolagen to develop a Communications Strategy. Suzen, APR (Accredited in Public Relations) is the Director of Communications for the Investment Funds Institute of Canada. Suzen has a keen interest in children’s mental health issues and actively supports children’s charities.

Claire Pizer, Ph.D., C. Psych.
Claire is a clinical psychologist in private practice with expertise in adult, adolescent and child psychology.  Her practice encompasses individual, couples and family therapy.  She previously was associated as a clinical psychologist with Dr. Angela Fountain and Assoc., the Gildiner Group, Family Service Association of Metropolitan Toronto specializing in parent and child separation and divorce counselling, and the Clarke Institute, now the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.  Formerly an elementary school teacher, Claire received her Honours B.A. in 1984, her M.A. in Clinical/Developmental Psychology in 1988 and her Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology in 1999, at York University.  Claire’s professional memberships include the College of Psychologists of Ontario, Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration, the Ontario Psychological Association, the Institute for the Advancement of Self Psychology, and the International Association for Psychoanalytic Self Psychology.

Jim Rodgerson, M.D.
Jim, a former president of the board, joined Oolagen in September 1995. He is a practising physician (general practice) at his office in Weston. He was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and attended schools in Moose Jaw, Vancouver, Winnipeg and the Universities of British Columbia and Toronto. During his graduate years, he served in the Royal Canadian Navy. A member of Central United Church in Weston, over the years he has served that Church in many lay capacities. Past President of the board of Medical Mission International, he served for many years in short term medical missions in Honduras, Central America.

Barbara Silverberg, LL.B.
Barbara joined the Oolagen board in 2008. She is a corporate commercial lawyer who is head of the Dell Canada legal team and a member of the company’s senior management team. Before joining Dell, Ms. Silverberg was Vice-President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary to First Capital Realty, a TSX-listed real estate company, and prior to that, was Vice President General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Labatt USA (now Anheuser-Bush Inbev). She started her career in the corporate/commercial group of the Tory’s law firm in Toronto. Barbara speaks French and some Spanish.

Peter Silverberg, LL.B.
Peter joined Oolagen’s board in 2000 and is a past board President. A lawyer with Beard Winter, Peter practises primarily in the areas of corporate and commercial and debtor/creditor law. Past panel member of the Official Guardian’s Office, for several years Peter represented children in court proceedings under the Child Welfare Act.  Prior to obtaining his law degree from the University of Western Ontario, he graduated from U of T with a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

David G Watson, B.A., M.Div.
David is married with 3 adult children and retired after 45 years of pastoral service with the United Church of Canada where he served in pastoral charges in Newfoundland, Kitchener, Elmira, Brantford and Toronto.  He joined Oolagen’s board in 2003.  A past member of the board of Bellwood House, he was one of the developers of Deaf Television and is proficient in Sign language.  In the past, David was also very involved as an interviewer and broadcaster for cable television.  He earned his B.A. from Wilfred Laurier and his Masters of Divinity from Queen’s University.
