Oolagen Narrative Therapy Certificate Training Program
Level 1

Training Program Description
Continuing Oolagen’s rich tradition of Narrative Therapy teaching, this year’s Narrative Therapy Certificate Training Program will start in the Fall of 2011.

The program is based upon the ideas of Michael White and David Epston, co-developers of Narrative therapy.

Objectives and Program Structure
The Narrative Therapy Certificate Training Program replaces Oolagen’s highly successful Clinical Volunteer Program which started in 2008, and has several objectives:

  • The Training Program provides participants with a thorough grounding in Narrative Therapy theory and practice, based on the clinical work of Narrative Therapy co-founders Michael White and David Epston
  • Training consists of a two part process: the first part of the program (approximately October – December) involves didactic and interactive learning about Narrative Therapy theory and practice; the second part of the program encompasses participation in ‘live’ counselling sessions with clients and any supplementary theoretical training that may be needed. The training takes place in a series of 14 weekly, intensive training sessions, totalling 70 hours
  • Participation in counselling sessions takes place in two main contexts: sitting on Reflecting/’Outsider Witness’ Teams, and doing Co-Therapy (with an experienced member of Oolagen’s counselling staff)

Who Should Register for the Training Program?
The program is suitable for the following:

  • Those who are new to the field of clinical therapy, and who are looking for the opportunity to enhance their existing skills and/or develop new ones by participating in a team-based counselling format
  • Professionals who are committed to ideas of client resilience and competence
  • Established therapists who wish to familiarize themselves with Narrative Therapy ideas and practices
Training Dates - October 2011 – May 2012 (Fall Session – 7 weeks / Winter Session – 7 Weeks), on Tuesdays, 3 – 8 P.M..
Cost - $1450 for 70 hours of training (14 sessions)
