Wraparound Programs

The Wraparound process is an innovative approach that mobilizes the community to help children, youth and families with complex problems to find solutions that will improve their quality of life. It does this by “wrapping” services and supports around the family.

Oolagen is presently involved in three Wraparound initiatives:
Adolescent Service Project, Keeping Families Together and Homeless Young Mothers. We also have a partnership project, Young Mothers at Risk.

The Adolescent Service Project and Keeping Families Together are intended to prevent out of home placement for youth in families experiencing conflict as well as help families with youth returning from care to re-integrate into the family and the community. All youth are referred by child welfare agencies. This service is a collaboration between Oolagen, child welfare agencies and other children’s mental health centres.

Our Homeless Young Mothers program is funded by the City of Toronto and assists high-risk young mothers, 25 years and under, and their children to move from shelters or inappropriate accommodation to stable housing. By using the Wraparound model, housing needs are addressed as well as other areas that can negatively impact on finding/maintaining stable housing (e.g. addictions, violence in the family, medical concerns, etc.). Our Young Mothers at Risk project works in partnership with Young Parents of No Fixed Address (YPNFA) - Although this is not one of our Wraparound Programs, it works hand-in-hand with our Homeless Young Mother’s Program by finding resources and coordinating services for this client population.

Through Oolagen, Wraparound Toronto offers the following training;

  1. Certified Wraparound Facilitator Training. A Four Day Intensive, Twelve Module Training
  2. Advanced Wraparound Facilitator Training.
  3. Strength Based Supervisory Training.
  4. Coaching for New Wraparound Facilitators and Supervisors.
  5. Best Practices in Community Mobilization and Development.
  6. Training and Technical Assistance for Community Teams and Steering Committees.
